Our experience at Scarlet Restaurant was very pleasant overall. We particularly enjoyed the beautiful view from the restaurant and the excellent service. The staff were attentive, professional and welcoming throughout our visit, and they absolutely deserve five stars. As for the food, everything was good and very tasty, although I would not quite describe it as exceptional. We ordered the fish, which was enjoyable, but the preparation and presentation felt a little more casual than we had expected from a restaurant of this kind perhaps closer to a very good cafe or traditional fish and chips style than to a more refined restaurant presentation. That said, the quality was good and we enjoyed the meal. The wonderful setting and outstanding service made the experience worthwhile. We would certainly give Scarlet Restaurant another chance, and I hope that on our next visit the food will reach the same excellent standard as the service and the surroundings.

Sorry it’s taken me so long to write this review! My (now!) husband and I had our wedding reception at the Scarlet back in April of this year. From start to finish, I absolutely couldn’t fault any of the team I dealt with or the wider team at the hotel both when we visited beforehand and on the day. We booked our reception remotely from Australia as this is now where we live but, as Cornish locals, wanted to celebrate in the place we love so much. They were so incredibly helpful, friendly, welcoming and supportive - arranging various meetings, replying to emails promptly, and genuinely caring about what we wanted for our reception. A big shout out to Abi the Events Manager (she was absolutely wonderful and super ‘on it’) and the wider events team, including Abby who initially helped book us in. The service on the day was impeccable - from helping us get situated in our room, to the evening dinner and through to breakfast the next morning. Having worked in hospitality for a good few years, I was amazed at the quality of service we had during dinner. Each course was served as soon as the previous one was finished, with no delay. Drinks were offered and topped up without being too intrusive. The food was genuinely the best my partner and I (and all our 16 guests) have had in a very, very long time and it will be hard to beat going forwards. I really can’t recommend the Scarlet Hotel and their events team enough, I would trust them to help plan a wedding/reception without any hesitation. We plan on returning to the hotel each time we are back in Cornwall to celebrate our anniversaries.

We’ve just returned from the most incredible stay at The Scarlet for my 30th birthday, and I genuinely cannot fault the experience. The rooms are absolutely beautiful, with the most breathtaking sea views to wake up to every morning. Every little detail feels luxurious and thoughtfully done. The food was incredible throughout our stay and definitely a highlight. One thing that really stood out was the service. The staff are an absolute credit to this hotel. They genuinely wait on you hand and foot and nothing is ever too much trouble. Housekeeping come in twice a day — either to turn your room down ready for bed or in the morning to refresh the room and replace towels, which made everything feel so relaxing and effortless. The spa was amazing too. I had both a massage and a facial and honestly left feeling completely relaxed. The cliff-top hot tubs were another highlight — sitting in them overlooking the sea was just incredible. The only thing I would mention is that the mattresses are VERY soft, so if you’re used to a firmer mattress I’d definitely recommend requesting one when you book. I didn’t do this initially and struggled with my back, however as soon as I mentioned it to the staff they immediately replaced the mattress and added a new topper for me. Again, the staff were amazing and handled it so quickly and kindly. A truly perfect getaway and somewhere I will absolutely be returning to. Thank you Scarlet for such a special stay 🤍

We stayed at The Scarlet for our anniversary and, overall, had a wonderful experience. The location above Mawgan Porth is spectacular, the spa facilities are excellent, the food was superb, and the whole hotel has a calm, relaxing atmosphere that makes it feel like a genuinely special place to stay. One particularly thoughtful touch was that we were welcomed with a handwritten anniversary card waiting in our room when we arrived. It was a lovely gesture and immediately made the occasion feel personal and special. The staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive throughout our stay. There were, however, a few areas where the experience fell short of what we'd expect from a luxury hotel at this price point. The biggest issue was the lack of air conditioning. We happened to visit during a heatwave, and our room became unbearably hot overnight, making it difficult for either of us to sleep. We'd happily recommend The Scarlet in spring, autumn or during cooler summer weather, but we'd think twice about staying during another heatwave unless air conditioning was added. The rooms also don't include a fridge or tea and coffee-making facilities. The hotel explained that this is because drinks are prepared fresh, with complimentary tea and coffee available throughout the day, which is a nice touch. Unfortunately, the tea and coffee we'd ordered for 8:00am on our first morning never arrived, which was disappointing. Housekeeping was another area where there was room for improvement. The shower appeared to need a deep clean, with noticeable mould on the grout, and on the second day we found a small shard of glass on the bathroom floor. Neither issue spoiled our stay, but they were unexpected in a hotel of this standard. Overall, we still had a lovely anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Scarlet. Its stunning setting, spa, food and peaceful atmosphere make it a very special destination. The thoughtful anniversary welcome showed the genuine care of the staff, but with a little more attention to room maintenance and, ideally, air conditioning for warmer weather, it would be close to outstanding.

Just back from an awesome weekend at the Scarlet! Staff were fab. Loved the wild swimming pool and sauna. Food, wine and cocktails were all great. We had a sea view room and the balcony was amazing - chilling with a drink looking out over Mawgan Porth whilst the sun set. The only disappointing experience was the cliff top hot tub, as we were less than 6ft from another hot tub and had to ‘look through’ other guests to see the sea view - a natural screen would have been far better. All in all an amazing stay and will definitely be back!
